YUMA — From Sunday September 10, 2023 through Saturday September 16, 2023, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 345 emergency calls for service:
8 Fire Responses including two calls related to unattended cooking with one involving a stove and the other a microwave, cooking safety tips include:
– Never leave cooking unattended
– For microwave cooking, ensure the set time is correct and the dishware is microwave safe
– Keep combustibles away from the cooking surface
– Never put water on a cooking oil fire, a lid or a foam extinguisher can be used to extinguish these
– For oven or microwave fires, turn the heat off and do not open the door
3 Mutual Aid Responses to assist other agencies
19 Special Duty and Public Assistance Responses including a snake removal
15 Motor Vehicle Crashes including 2 t-bone collisions, a vehicle that collided with a power pole, and a vehicle collision involving a bicycle
300 Medical Responses including: 19 for abdominal pain, 12 for upper extremity pain, 11 for lower extremity pain, 5 for alcohol overuse, 8 for altered levels of consciousness, 11 for anxiety, 11 for psychological distress, 12 for chest pain, 1 for a stroke, 4 for diabetic emergencies, 18 for difficulty breathing, 7 for dizziness, 2 for drug overdoses, 14 for headaches or head pain, 3 for heart problems, 5 for back pain, 6 for blood pressure issues, 6 for pain, 6 for seizures, 1 for fainting, 3 for allergic reactions, 1 for heat exhaustion, 3 for kidney stones, 6 for injuries, 31 for weakness, and other illnesses and injuries.
