Fake family in Yuma is arrested on Fraud Schemes and many more

YUMA — Police in Yuma has been getting calls about fake jewelry scammers in the area.
According to police, this “family” sets up in parking lots, at Interstate I8 on and off ramps, and sometimes on the side of the road asking for gas money or cash to help them get to another state. These people will offer what they claim is expensive jewelry at a discounted price so they can have the cash or any handouts as they are in need. If someone buys the jewelry, they find out it is fake when they go to sell it.
A 46-year-old man in Yuma called the police when he saw their black GMC Yukon parked on the onramp, appearing to be disabled. The man had seen this same car and people attempting to sell fake jewelry and asking for handouts a few weeks prior.
When the man stopped and started to video the family and the car, they became angry and threatened the man with bodily harm while holding objects.
The officers arrested 49-year-old Bogdan Berchez for Aggravated Assault and Disorderly Conduct; 38-year-old Narcis Miclescu for Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Threats, Fraud Schemes, and Criminal Simulation; and 36-year-old Diana Avram for Aggravated Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Threats.
