SAN LUIS — Police in San Luis have been receiving many complaints from residents, that when dialing 911, they are transferred to the San Luis Rio Colorado Police Dispatching Center.
The police department explained that this happens because of their proximity to cell phone towers in Mexico and because Mexico also uses 911 as an emergency call number. Mexican authorities are aware of this issue and we both have established procedures as neighboring cities to ensure those citizens dialing 911 are transferred back to the San Luis, Arizona, Police Department when this call routing problem occurs.
